The analysis of all the data has shown that the ranking from Maclean's magazine is usually correlated to the percentage of increase in the number of applicants. While the increase is not on a yearly basis, consistent ranking at the top of the Maclean's chart provides for a long-term increase in applications. While other outside factors, such as the opinion of many other sources, would also probably give these universities high rankings, Maclean's is a concrete example of how the applications change with the reputation of the school.
