G. Analysis of Primary Data

This was done primarily through an index that was created.

The MW was given to their reply if they consulted the university rankings. If they answered that they didn't consult Maclean's, the index also received an MW of 1. The higher the MRV score, the greater impact the Maclean's magazine had on the person applying. In order to decrease the scores to a more manageable number, they were divided by 100. To make it so that a score of 0.8 would be high, and 0.2 would be low, the subtraction of the rest of the equation from 1 was completed. If a person chose 1 from the weight value of the Maclean's rankings, they were given an automatic MRV of 1. The index will only function if there is additional factors, aside from Maclean's, upon which decisions to apply are based.

MW (Maclean's Worth) :

  1. = Automatic 0
  2. = 10
  3. = 5
  4. = 1

MRV (Maclean's Ranking Value) = (1 - MW * total number of other factors)/100
