The Team! This is just a smaller version of the picture. For more detail, as well as a person by person index, click here. The medals we are wearing are GOLD, from CWOSSA. We're the champs! |
Ada Jeffery: Our sweep! The Beast, as she is referred to, continually dominates others with her fierce one on one play and quick strikes up the sidelines. She has no trouble with bowling over an opponent who is standing in her way, or taking the occasional fall herself. |
Michaela Ramsden: The Tank. Co-Captain. She is, game in game out, the player you want with 1 minute left, and up by one. Little gets by her, and if it does, the player soon ends up taking a spill, as Ramsden loves the physical aspect of the game. |
Rachel Hornsby: A goal scoring machine. At the beginning of the year I tried to keep track of how many she potted, but I lost count pretty early on. (Thats what happens when she puts in 3 a game!) A killer shot, and great ball-handling skills. |
Kathryn Griffin: G-Force. A quick, confident midfielder, Kathryn is equally proficient in both ends of the field. She often sets up rushes with quick square or through passes and is always back to help out on D when required. She was named MVP of the CISAA tournament last year! |
Meredith Douglas: The Wall. At the recent CWOSSA tournament, the team played 5 games. Total goals for: 15. Total goals against: 0. Mer can stop anything that comes her way. She has great reflexes and an uncanny knack for knowing where the ball is going before it's left the stick. |
Gillian Hewson: The Bulldog. Gillian is a two-way forward who plays intense every game. During the CWOSSA tourney, she took a stick to the face and was bleeding profusely. She came bcak on 3 minutes later, and was instrumental in setting up the game-winning goal over Waterloo-Oxford. She won the MVP at the CWOSSA tournament. |
Ali Rivers: Domi. Quick as lightning, and amazing at finding the open man...uh...woman, Rivers plays hard every game. Along with Griffin, she forms a dominating midfield, who are as tough to stop as they are to get around. Rivers also enjoys mocking the manager of the team in her spare time. |
Alex Efthimikas: Lex. Co-Captain. Along with Ramsden, Efhtimikas provides the official leadership and the official defensive domination. She is prone to lowering her shoulder and flattening people. Her ability to quickly move the ball upfield and into scoring position works in her advantage game after game. |
Rileigh Alger-McColl: Ri. The upcoming sweeper, with Ada's graduation, Alger-McColl is a physical presence who doesnt lose her cool on the field. She has excellent defensive abilities, and her signature move is the "draw-back, drive-up" which she performs extremely well. When the goalie is late (or absent), Rileigh is called on to either play kicking back or goalie in her stead. |
Ainsley Bull: Ains. When the defence needs a calming influence, it is Bull who is called in. Her relaxed demaneanour and ability to keep her head under pressure allow for the high-strung defence to move forward with abandon, knowing that a capable and steady pair of hands is back to support them. She has what are referred to as "soft hands": the ability to thread a pretty pass. |
Emilie Schnarr: Em. One of the most versatile players on the St. John's team, Schnarr can play all three out positions aptly. She is an intense and driven competitor, with excellent instincts and ball skills. She plays like a veteran desipte being only a first-year tier 1 player. |
Sydney Arn: Syd. A speedy right-winger, Arn is a rookie to the Tier 1 team. This fact did not keep her from scoring what turned out to be the game-winning goal in a white-knuckle OFSAA Quarter-final against Ridley. Her backhand hit post and over the line, giving us momentum, and eventually victory. |
Martha Garrett: M-Gar. A lanky power forward who drives to the net with reckless abandon. Garrett combines a veteran presence for the game with solid ball-work and good determination to get by defense and fire on net. Has a tendency to look really scary in photos (this was the most flattering one I had!) |
