Corey Schwab
When Corey Schwab was invited to the Leafs training camp this summer, everyone knew that it was Swedish rookie Mikael Tellqvist's job as back-up to lose. He lost it. While Schwab wasn't spectacular, he showed some of the spark and flash that had made him a hot prospect back in the days of 1995-96. He bounced up and down in the minors over the previous years, and finally got a chance to stick at the NHL level in T.O. Then CuJo went down with a broken wrist. Since Schwab has stepped up, he's played brilliantly, and in one four game stretch, allowed only 4 goals, going 2-0-2-0. If he keeps this up, the Leafs will have two solid netminders prepared for the playoffs. One quick note of explanation: backups goalies, which Schwab has almost always been get a lot of no-descisions, because they come in when the #1 does poorly. This is why games played and wins+losses+ties doesnt necesarily add up.
